We need better, stronger, more representative, caring, consistent and courageous leadership

By admin | Published: May 13, 2010

ON THE ISSUES, WEDNESDAY, MAY 12, 2010

FRIENDS

This morning I got an email from the Dauphin County Democratic Party asking me to vote for their list of endorsed candidates! You probably got a similar one from your local Democratic Party.

Here’s the problem: This year, this primary election cycle, we need to make up our own minds about who to vote for, based upon the issues we find important, the voting records of the incumbents, and the leadership qualities we need to get our communities back on track.

My opponent, Tim Holden, let his team use sleazy tactics to intimidate voters who signed my nominating petitions. One Holden goon even posed as a census bureau worker to obtain information—about me and my petition.

That’s wrong—and shameful, as were the subpoenas issued to thirty-five ballot signers…

We should be a better party, and better community, than that.

In our debate last Monday, Mr. Holden said he supports health care reform!

Really? Then why didn’t he vote in favor of it?

He also made it appear that a promised coal-to-oil plant was still a possibility, although the plan had died two years ago. No matter how you feel about the initiative, voters deserve to know the truth. I told them, and called Mr. Holden on his misstatement.

Mr. Holden is a pass through for interests that benefit him and a few of his closest friends. He sees me—and you—as convenient props in his scheme. He wants our votes, but not our input.
We have stood to say: ENOUGH!

Remember that between 2008 and 2009 Holden attempted to stay in the air most of the time, to avoid the issues of voters, here, on the ground: 18 trips, to four continents, in 20 months.

While we faced a financial meltdown, a healthcare insurance crisis, and other important issues of the day and the century. Holden was “up in the air.”

I am dismayed that some in the Democratic Party want a rubber stamp on representation.

We need better, stronger, more representative, caring, consistent and courageous leadership. That is why I am in this race.

Please cast your vote for me on Tuesday, thinking about truth, advocacy and honesty in government.

Thank you, and please pass the message on to others.

Sheila Dow Ford for Congress – On The Issues

By admin | Published: March 30, 2010

Dear Friends,

This morning, I want to provide a quick update of where we are in our campaign to unseat Tim Holden.

First, thanks to your generous and diligent efforts, we submitted more than 1, 600 petition signatures!

Of course, we could have handed in one million, and Tim and his gang were going to challenge us. It was predictable. They did. And, we are fighting back.

We understand that Power never concedes without a struggle. We know how to fight.

The Holden follower who filed the challenge on his behalf is Yesenia A. Rosado. Rosado is a PA state employee — a technology investment consultant — with the Department of Community and Economic Development. She has strong ties to Holden and his crew.

We have retained a team of lawyers, and we fully expect to prevail. We are serious.

Our values, our issues, our voices, our votes: they carry weight.
Holden and his crew are in a different business: they carry water.

Stay informed, and please pass the word.
If you haven’t given a donation, please do so today.

We are swimming upstream, but, we know how to swim!

Thanks, and have a great day!

Sheila
